It was a peaceful morning in the small town of Millfield. The birds were chirping, the sun was shining, and the air was fresh. All was quiet except for one thing - a dog barking. The sound echoed through the streets and disturbed the peace.
The source of the barking was a small white dog named Max. He was standing in the front yard of a house, wagging his tail and barking at everything that moved. Passersby would stop and look at him, but he didn’t seem to notice. He was too busy barking at the squirrels in the trees and the birds in the sky.
Max’s owner, a young woman named Sarah, came out of the house and saw what was going on. She called out to Max, but he didn’t listen. She walked over to him and patted him on the head, but he still barked. She realized that he must have seen something that had him on high alert.
She followed his gaze and saw a cat walking along the fence line. She knew that Max didn’t like cats, so she gently pulled him away and took him inside.
As soon as they were inside, Max stopped barking. Sarah looked at him and smiled. She knew that he was a good dog, but sometimes he just got a little too excited.
From that day on, Sarah made sure to keep Max away from the fence line when there were cats around. She knew that it was important to keep the peace in the neighborhood, and that meant keeping Max’s barking under control.
